Description:
Named Petes drain coz a guy named Pete & various activities.
After getting to Oatley Bay and finding the public warf go right.
The entrance is not at all hard to find, directly across from the
carpark for Renown Park. Here its an 8ft high circular drain. Once
in there is alot of grafiti on the walls to a certin point. The
echo in this tunnel is excellent and really gives a good
indication of how long the tunnel is. There is alot of 4ft tunnels
running into this main tunnel. At one of the intersections you
will notice where the Victorian members of the CaveClan have
tagged up. After about 1 km or so the tunnel turns into a
rectangular cement at about 5ft 6inches. After that it turns into
a rectangular storm water drain where the roof is corrigated iron.
(Previoulsy open roofed before housing development???)
You can tell where the roads cross the drain because the cement
takes over instead of the corrigated iron.
Here is where you start to go under peoples backyard with some
places letting you see out through holes and grills into their
backyards. Along here somewhere at either side of a road above
you, you can stand up and nearly look out through the curb side
gutter drain at road level. Nearing the end and exit at
Dardanelles Street, Mortdale the roof lowers to about 3-4ft and
you vitually have to move along on your hands and knees for about
50 metres.
You exit into the open section of a storm water drain which
continues on. (Now sealed by heavy metal grates, exit via Oatley
Bay or continue crawling along and find alternative exit further
on. EOF.
