Description:
This one can go in the rumour pile as it has yet to be discovered. Although
I have it on good information that the tunnel still exists today. Let me
start with the history.
Bungles was fortunate enough to have a conversation with a contractor who
was working out at the hospital. The contractor had to run some wires under the
hospital and they showed him a tunnel which could gain him access under
the buildings. He asked the reason for the very long tunnel which kept
going into the distance. The nursing staff advised him the tunnel was
used in the olden days to transport mental patients from a ferry on the
harbour side of the hospital grounds, up and into the hospital buildings
itself. The reason was, it was beleived that looking at these mentally
afflicted people or being in close contact would pass on their afflication.
Hence they built a tunnel to protect the people of Sydney. Bungles and I
did drive into the grounds and walked down to the sea side and skirted for
a few hours but did not come up with anything but some interesting mounds
of earth near the waters edge. I will leave the remainder of the research
upto the Sydney Crews. It could be as easy as a phone call? Upon the property
we did come across a small abandoned chappel which looked totally haunted in
the dying evening light. Photo below.
